Nuclear Nonproliferation Embedded Topical Meeting
– First Fission to the Future

November 10-14, 2013; Washington, DC

The 2013 ANS Embedded Topical Meeting on Nuclear Nonproliferation is intended to facilitate a continuing dialogue among worldwide representatives and stakeholders in order to promote the peaceful use of nuclear technology while simultaneously preventing the diversion and misuse of nuclear material through the appropriate use of safeguards, security, and application of nuclear nonproliferation policies.

The program will include presentations by commercial, governmental, and international representatives that include current policy developments, technical applications, and updates on projects that affect nuclear nonproliferation issues. The conference is embedded in the ANS National Meeting of November 10-14, 2013 being held in Washington DC. This meeting location in our nation’s capital provides an excellent opportunity for attendees and presenters to communicate with US governmental and international representatives influential in the area of Nuclear Nonproliferation.

The meeting is titled Nuclear Nonproliferation – First Fission to the Future because 2013 marks the 75th anniversary of the discovery of fission in 1938 by Lisa Meitner, Otto Hahn, and Otto Frish. Therefore, there will be presentations that address the history of success and/or failures of nuclear nonproliferation initiatives and policies.
